For a lot longer than anyone reading these words has been alive, the extraction industries have been permitted to operate here in these hills with little-to-no regard for the land or the well-being of the hard-working Mountaineers who call it ‘home’. They destroy our mountains, pollute our air and water, and send the profits right out the door, all while spending millions of dollars on marketing campaigns aimed to convince us all that they’re on our side.

If elected, I will work tirelessly to strengthen environmental protections on the water we drink and the air we breathe. 

 

By shifting subsidies from fossil fuel industries to green energy initiatives in solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal, we can create a sustainable new economy with the potential to create thousands of jobs while simultaneously protecting our environment for generations to come.
